New Internet Gambling Laws are Put into Action
Last summer Nevada was given the go- ahead to
implement the new Internet gambling laws. However,
government officials say that illegal wagering is still going on.
To keep track of illegalities happening the Attorney General
will provide the State Gaming Commission an analysis of the new gaming laws next month.
Until matters are taken care of,
the state and the Federal Justice Department will meet to discuss
the correlation between online gambling to the 1961
Wire Act that states that gambling over telephone lines is illegal.
The Gaming Commission will need to guarantee that minors do not
enter gambling sites and that games are played in a safe and reliable environment.
" The Bush Administration has not as yet taken a position on the Wire Act",
sources say. Online gambling market revenues expect to rise to $6 billion by next year.

The Internet Gaming Commission
has sent an urgent warning out to its members
regarding fraudulent behavior attacking reputable sites.
Six months ago The Internet Gaming Commission learned of three bogus sites,
Gamblers Palace, Simple Net Bet and Skytower,
under the auspices of one person,
and sent an alert stating "Extreme Caution Urged".
The bogus site in turn, to cover itself and the damage it caused to its "fraudulent" site,
countered the Commissions claim by sending out the same message,
"Extreme Caution Urged" to legitimate sites.
The bogus sites along with its message,
copied the Gaming Commissions site in an attempt to further woe
traffic oblivious to this foul play, to their own fraudulent sites.
The Gaming Commission has put a red flag out to its members
to check their site for any sign of false claims to their site.
Legal action is being taken to rid the market of this fraud.

According to Jupiter Media Metrix,
an established analytical and web statistics company,
13.6 billion people entered gambling sites.
The recent growth of the online gambling industry has focused the company's
attention on creating a new wing for this matter and the online gambling advertising industry.
The demand for Internet ads has increased from 911 million to 2.5 billion last year.
Despite legal and moral matters on Internet Gambling,
net surfers are still attracted to this whole new virtual world.
Due to the easy access of online gambling,
it is believed to increase the number of gambling addicts.
There are a few proposed bills still pending on the matter of regulating online gambling.
However, there are others who would like to completely ban Internet wagering.
Because of such a high demand for gambling and the financial potential it has,
it would be unrealistic to stop people from this popular phenomenon.

Last month, the Chinese province of Jiangxi introduced
a new admission card constraint to the entire 3,200 Internet café's in the area.
In an attempt to crack down on computer crimes and lawbreaking offenses,
the card will work as an identifying device for authorities,
to assist in screening Internet user's activities.
The admission card requires computer users to
fill out a registration form, including their
Name, age and address.
This information is then recorded and stored in a police database system.
Internet customers will have to buy a card
when entering an Internet café'
which is run through an identifying device when they go online.
Authorities who are appointed to oversee the new system will
be signaled if a user tries to enter an illegal site,
such as pornography,
gambling, foreign media and religious and human rights groups.
Apparently, Special Forces also sift through e-mail messages,
as well as surf the network for illicit material.
An unidentified representative for the computer
offense division in the regional center of Nanchang,
commented on the new system, saying,
"This system gives us more power to prevent crimes
and identify criminals on the Internet."

When the Internet gaming industry was born in the mid-1990s,
most entrants into the field were entrepreneurial,
start-up companies specializing in online gaming.
As the field has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry,
more and more competitors are coming from the ranks of traditional,
land-based gaming companies as well as from well-known entertainment,
media, technology, and other companies outside the gaming field.
This convergence and expansion is rapidly changing the gaming industry.
In order to track and provide guidance on these developments, t
he conference will cover such topics as the future of the industry,
financing, intranets, kiosks and other new media,
growth of wireless gaming, regulatory updates,
success of online lotteries, rapid growth in sportsbooks,
internet casinos and electronic payment systems.
